The Garnet Mine

Emily Sherman, a junior at Rye High School, joined The Garnet Mine because of her love for writing and journalism.  Although she enjoys writing about world news, she is also interested in science and technology.  Emily believes that writing connects people, and that journalism can be utilized as a catalyst for change.  Founder of the Doctors Without Borders committee within the Student Council and Vice President of the Adopt-a-Grandfriend program, she is inspired by individuals who give back to their communities.  Emily looks forward to her first year on The Garnet Mine!
