Last week Brian Cashman released a statement saying that Joe Girardi and the Yankees have parted ways after 10 stellar seasons. Girardi finished with a overall record of 910-710, ranking as the most winiest coach over his 10 year span with the Yankees. Entering the 2017 season, Yankee officials would’ve been ecstatic to be told that this club would even be in contention for the playoffs at the end of the season. As the season concluded Girardi and the Yankees found themselves losing in game 7 of the ALCS. The Yankees were clear-cut overachievers in 2017, and most of that weight lies down on Joe Girardi.

The decisions came down from GM Brain Cashman who had a conversation with, owner, Hal stienbrenner about the future of the Yankees. The two discussed the direction in which the organization is going in and decided that they needed a “younger guy, with more connection to the guys in the locker room”(Bryan Hoch). With up and coming stars like Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Luis Severino, and Greg Bird it is time for a new manager to lead this club to there 28th world championship.

Expect a new manager to be hired within the next few days. The off-season starts as soon as the world series concludes, therefore if the Yankees are looking to peruse some big time free agents to head down to New York its important for each player to acknowledge who will be in charge at the start of the season. Some top candidates include Rob Thomson (Yankee Bench Coach), Al Pedrique (AAA Minors Coach), Joe Espada (Yankee Third base Coach) and many more outside candidates.
