The Yankees completed an incredible comeback last night, coming back from an 0-2 deficit in the Indians series and facing elimination. Sir Didi Gregorious lead game Five off with a two out solo shot in the top of the first, and then a 2 run shot in the top of the third. C.C. Sabathia threw 4 1/3 flawlessly, but then collapsed allowing four straight two out singles and two runs. The Yankees brought in David Robertson who dealt three innings allowing no runs and getting out of CC’s jam with just 2 pitches.

In the top of the 9th with 2 outs and a man on first and second, Brett Gardner stood in for a 12 pitch at bat eventually knocking a slap single to bring in Aaron Hicks from second, but then Jay Bruce had a lazy throw that passed short stop and allowed Tom Frazier to score from first. Yanks closer threw the 8th and 9th flawlessly with the exception of a walk to lead off the top of the 9th after sitting for 30 minutes while the Yanks had a big top of the 9th.

The Yankees are just the 10th team in MLB history to come back from an 0-2 lead while facing elimination, and will head to Houston to face the Astros on Friday. The ALCS will be a best of 7 series, and the winner will take a trip to the World Series.

Junior Kyle Gardner said “This Yankee team is special, we’re young, determined, exciting, but still have the experience needed to lead in the postseason.” New York Yankee fans will be fired up on Friday after the team showed the MLB they mean business after beating the nearly unbeatable Indians in 3 straight. The Yankees bullpen is rested and ready to roll, and New York is hoping that this is their year.
