Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings is an Asian cuisine restaurant, specializing in dumplings and bao. Bao is a steamed bun, filled with a variety of meats. The restaurant  is located a couple blocks away from Grand Central Station, at 179 2nd Ave.

Mimi Cheng’s casual restaurant

The restaurant in owned by two sisters, Marian and Hannah Cheng. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cute and modern. The decor is simple, with pops of yellow color to brighten the place up. Tessa Panero says, ” As soon as I walked in I knew the food would be great based on the vibe they had created.”

The menu is kept very short and simple. We ordered The Mimi Cheng, which is a dumpling with chicken and zucchini. Our waitress told us this is Mimi’s signature dumpling so we were very excited to try it. As we waited, we sat ourselves at the communal table surrounded by happy faces scarfing down dumplings. Our stomachs began to growl.

Soon enough, our dumplings came out. They were amazing. Junior, Reagan Brown says, ” They were the best dumplings I’ve ever had. The outside was crispy while the inside was warm and delicious.”   We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves a good dumpling!
