My opinion on the Buttigiegs.

Pete Buttigieg last year really made a splash. He went from a small town mayor to a big time Presidential candidate and now Transportation Secretary in a pretty short time.

I never really liked Pete. I think that his positions are neoliberal and relatively hawkish. There’s honestly nothing special about him and where he’s different from other Democrats he’s often worse. He often speaks in platitudes and cliches rather than in policy substance.

I do have a soft spot for Chasten though. I follow him on Instagram and he seems like a genuinely good person. He has a great story and is very charismatic. He even said if he became First Gentlemen he would focus on arts education which is very good.

In the 2020 primary, I was a ride or die Bernie supporter. I voted for him even when there was no chance of him winning in the NY primary (along with Jamaal Bowman who I’m so happy won).

I implore Chasten to become a pop culture figure on his own. I think that he can honestly be better and more famous than his neoliberal husband.

Arts education is an issue that I believe needs to be addressed. There needs to be a place for students who don’t feel they belong in other areas of school. Those kids often gravitate to the theater program or other school arts programs.

That’s an issue that not a single not a ton of politicians or a political figures talk about. Not even Bernie Sanders or Andrew Yang who are my favorite politicians at the moment are talking about.

So yeah if it was between Pete and a Republican. I would feel better than I did voting for Joe in this election. (which was not great but whatever to get Trump out).

I would not feel great about the hawkish foreign policy but an issue I care about would be cared about by the First Gentlemen.
