The NBA will be BACK!

The NBA will be BACK!

The NBA has announced its return. It will be resuming its regular season for eight games before heading to the playoff. Only 22 of the 30 teams will be returning and they will all be headed to Orlando. 13 of the teams are from the Western Conference, and they are the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers,  Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns. From the Eastern Conference, there will only be nine teams returning and they are Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards. Following the eight games per team, six of the teams will go home, but the teams don’t need to necessarily be in the top eight when the season ends for them to have still have a chance, if they are within 4 games of the last spot, they will get a play-in game to keep their season alive.

In my opinion, this is great news and will certainly make for an interesting end to the regular season as teams now have a chance to make the playoffs, instead of the league going straight to the playoffs. The NBA is currently the only league of the three major sports that have had their season affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that has a firm date for when they will be returning, and that could allow for huge TV ratings if either the MLB or NHL aren’t playing when the NBA resumes.
