Kristin’s Picks | Volume Three

This is a collection of things I’ve come across people doing that I’ve been inspired by recently, and I hope you will be too. Here’s what I found during the week of 4/19/20-4/25/20 (~quarantine edition~). Enjoy!

1. Play online Pictionary

If you’re struggling to find things to do with your friends while you can’t see each other, this version of online Pictionary is great. Type in gartic.io to your web browser, and it will take you directly to game website. To start a new game, click “Rooms” and then “New Room.” Make sure to select a number of players that will be big enough for all your friends. Clicking the amount of points will determine how long the game will last. Once you create your room, you can send the link in any way you want. Have fun!

                                  2. Participate in a 30-Day Song Challenge

I’ve noticed many people are doing a song challenge like this one on Instagram or Snapchat (myself included). This is a fun way to reflect on your music taste and appreciate old songs you used to love. If you don’t feel like posting your answers online, you could also use this as a guide to make a new playlist. It’s up to you!

 

 

3. Do something nice for someone

Sometime in mid-April, I brainstormed small ways I could make a difference for others. I like doing art, so I decided to use my creativity to design these cards and mail them to my friends. Some of my friends have also written cards for me, or even dropped off baked goods at my house. It’s so important to let the people in our lives know that we’re thinking of them, especially since we can’t see them right now. If you want to do something similar but don’t know where to start, try searching for ideas on Pinterest, or doing the thing you do best. Whatever it is, your friends will be so happy to know you thought of them!

4. Try out online workouts

There are so many great online resources for working out to get you motivated! @kaylaitsines on Instagram is my favorite account for workout ideas, but Chloe Ting’s fitness series and Alexis Ren’s ab workout (both on YouTube) are also very popular right now.

 

 

 

 

5. Do some online shopping

Since we can’t shop in person, many clothing stores and retailers are having online discounts. Some of the best sales happening at this moment include The North Face, Madewell, Tobi, Abercrombie, and American Eagle. For more check out this article from Business Insider!

6. Watch Outer Banks

If you haven’t heard of this show, where have you been? This Netflix original series follows five teenagers as they hunt for buried treasure in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I thought that although the script isn’t exactly Emmy award material, the plot and the characters are super engaging. Senior Cailee Formon said, “Outer Banks is the best show to watch over quarantine. Once I started, I couldn’t stop watching.”
