Kristin’s Picks | Volume One

Throughout the week of 3/8/20-3/15/20, I documented some of the trends I noticed in the hallways. The items this week fall into the fashion/accessories category, but because of the Quarantine, I will also make some suggestions about ideas/activities to make your time at home more enjoyable. Let’s see what I found!

1. Wear Straight Leg Jeans

Tired of the skinny jean grind? From the looks of it, straight leg jeans were back in the high school hallways before we left. Take notes from how Ella R. paired these with a cropped black sweater and gray high-top Vans. This outfit is so simple, but the jeans make it more fun and interesting!

2. Camouflage on Everything

Ella, where are your pants? Haha just kidding. When I say camo is everywhere, it really is: camo jeans, sweatshirts, t-shirts, you name it. Here, Ella B. sported some comfortable yet fashionable camo joggers and Sarah H. wore a camo hat—a very stylish way to keep the sun out of her eyes.

3. Paint your Nails Different Colors

I’ve been seeing multicolored nails all over Instagram lately, and what better time to try out the trend than in quarantine? I love how Ana P. used pastels in the same color family, but you could also paint each nail a wildly different color! It’s up to you! If you need some ideas, try searching “different color nails” on Pinterest.

4. Mix up your Hoop Earrings

Hoop earrings are so versatile—you can really wear them with anything. Jillian B. chose to pair two gold hoops with a pearl stud, but the combinations with more than one piercing are endless! I noticed that a lot of girls have been wearing the biggest hoop in the first slot, and then stacking them getting smaller as you head away from the earlobe. This is such a simple way to make your outfit more fun with minimal effort.

5. Look for Cheetah Print

Cheetah print is probably my favorite of all the animal prints, and it’s having a moment right now. These cheetah print Lululemon leggings that Grace M. wore to the beach were all the rage at school. Not only are they stylish, but they’re also “so soft and comfortable.” I pretty much didn’t go a day without seeing someone wearing them!

**Because of quarantine, I’ve also added a section on here called What to Do!

What to Do:

6. Watch Frozen 2

If you haven’t already seen this movie, I would definitely recommend. It’s a great feel good story to interrupt the gloomy news cycle. Although the songs don’t top the ones from the original, Olaf is just as funny, if not funnier.

7. Go for a Walk/Run Outside

Make it a goal to get some fresh air at least once a day. Walking or running outside is good for your mental and physical health! If you don’t like to go alone, bring your dog or a family member. Trust me, you’ll feel better that you did.

8. Get Creative

If you’ve ever wanted to start a creative project but didn’t have the time to do it, now’s your chance! Gather any art supplies lying around your house and go from there. Once you know what you have to work with, you can search different mediums online and see what comes up to get inspired. YouTube, Instagram, and Pinterest all have tons of ideas you can try. Are the walls in your room empty and boring? Make something to put on them!

I hope you enjoyed Volume One! More to come…
