With playoffs approaching in just a few days, both the baseball and lacrosse teams here at Rye seem to share one common goal, a section championship. Both teams have accumulated a lot of media attention after having very successful seasons. But for those of you who don’t know, here is where both of these teams stand with their regular seasons coming to a close this week.

The Rye Baseball team is currently 14-5 with one more game left of the regular season. The Boys have proved they can compete with the big dogs with some big wins on the year. The Garnets will most likely get the #2 seed for playoffs where the first two rounds of play will occur on Monday and Wednesday of next week before the double-elimination sectional semi-finals.

Senior Finn Westerink said “Were not going to take any game for granted. We will take it one game at a time as we all have on goal in mind–a section championship”

Boys Lacrosse

The Rye boys lacrosse team is 11-5 on the year and has high hopes with playoffs approaching. Their regular season is over as they were just recently crowned league champions! In bigger news, the boys lacrosse team has not only clinched, but earned the #1 seed for playoffs. Their first game is on Saturday with their opponent TBD.

Senior Pat Langer said “We have had high hopes all season;now with playoffs approaching it just comes down to executing what needs to be done in order to get a section championship.”
