Rachael Adelson – Athlete of the Week, Winter Track

The athlete of the week is features winter track superstar, Rachel Adelson. In a recent race, Rachel ran the 600-meter run and managed to get a time of 1:39.71. This time is three tenths away from school record! Rachel also ran on the 4×800 relay team that broke the school record by 11 seconds with a time of 9:37.96. This qualified them for the New Balance Nationals.

Rachel possesses all of the qualities of a great runner. However, she also enjoys every second of the season. She comments, “A fun tradition is when the team goes to Sal’s or Mamaroneck Diner after races.” She loves the positivity of her players and coaches and hopes to continue running track in college.

Many other athletes look up to Rachel due to her amazing work ethic. On top of track, Rachel also played for the girl’s varsity soccer team. She was one of the captains for the team due to her positive attitude and work ethic. She also wants to play soccer in college. Her soccer coach, Rich Savage comments, “Rachel is an outstanding athlete with unbelievable strength, stamina, speed, skill, and spirit. It is not only Rachel’s physical ability but her outstanding mental ability that separates her from other athletes. Moreover, Rachel will always put the needs of the team before her own personal ones. Rachel is a  true role model for all others around her.” Her work ethic and unselfishness have really helped her excel in every competition, and it doesn’t go without notice.

Rachel has all the qualities a good teammate and leader should have. She is a true inspiration to everyone around her.
