The Bacon Egg and Cheese- the go-to breakfast choice for many Rye students.  Its quick preparation time and flawless combination of three common breakfast foods (meat, egg, and bread) makes this sandwich a viable and tasty option for students in the morning.  Considering its daily preparation in the cafeteria, it’s no doubt that this sandwich is loved by many.

Is it healthy though? Although we haven’t been watching our intake of the sandwich or questioning its nutritional value, we decided to research its makeup.  Since Jackie is someone who happens to have a BEC almost everyday (it’s bad, I know) we’ve put together some nutritional facts regarding the composure of a “basic” bacon egg and cheese.

Certainly, one can change the makeup of the sandwich to tailor to specific tastes.  The endless bread choices (bagel, roll, brioche, muffin) as well as the elimination of bacon or replacement with sausage makes the BEC extremely versatile.
