Yesterday, March 16th, began what is known as “March Madness.” the 68-team NCAA Boys Basketball tournament. The Tournament spans between March 16th and April 3rd and features six rounds. This year’s four Number 1 seeds are Villanova, Kansas, UNC, and Gonzaga. The Final Four will be on Saturday, April 1 and Monday, April 3 in Phoenix, Arizona. Below are results from yesterday’s first day of the tournament:

No. 4 Purdue 80-70 No. 13 Vermont

There were two upsets yesterday, in which the lower seed defeated the higher seed. Those games were No. 12 Middle Tennessee State defeating No. 5 Minnesota, and No. 11 Xavier beating No. 6 Maryland.

The second half of the First round will be played today, with the Second Round being played tomorrow and Sunday. The next round, the Sweet 16, will be next Thursday and Friday, followed by the Elite Eight on Saturday and Sunday.

Junior Will Tepedino said, “March Madness is the best time of the year. If you want a bracket group then HMU because I know of a big one. Kidding, when you read this it’ll probably be too late.” Senior Mac McGovern said, “Go SMU.”
