The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team returns many key players, but begin the season with a completely new staff. The Garnets are coming off of a 12-6 season, with key wins over Iona Prep and Somers, and return all but two starters. The team has been practicing together for two weeks now and hope to continue their success from last season.
At Attack, the lacrosse team will have Brendan Dugan, Ryan Kirkpatrick, and Teddy Aquillio. Dugan and Kirkpatrick have been Varsity starters since Freshman year, while Aquillino has been apart of the team since being a Sophomore. Kirkpatrick is a returning All-Section player and has been named All-League the past two seasons. Last year, he produced 40 goals and 21 assists, leading the team in points. Dugan assisted Ryan on the majority of his goals and led the team in that stat. Kirkpatrick says, “40 and 21 is nice but I think 80 and 40 this year is where it’s at.”
The Garnets return all but one of their Midfielders from last season. The group is led by High Point-commit Will Hynson, Colgate-commit Billy Chabot, and Dartmouth-commit Peter Chabot. The three of them were All-League players, with Hynson gaining All-Section honors. Billy and Peter have been on Varsity since Freshman year, while Hynson has been apart of the team since Sophomore year. The Lacrosse team also features returning seniors Will Koester, Chris Kovacs, and Jack Breitenbach.
At Defense, the Garnets return a group of Syracuse-commit Owen Hull, Zack Samberg, Davis Ross, and Jamie Chabot. Losing only Theo Bresolin from last years team, the defensive group hopes to retain their success from last season, when they were number two in the section in goals allowed. Jamie Chabot said, “This year is gonna be lit. I think I’ll finally get to use a long pole. It’s about time.”
The Garnets also have a new coaching staff led by Head Coach Steve Lennon, who you can learn more about here.
